Flying Business Class: What To Expect

Flying Business Class: What To Expect

If you’ve bagged a deal in business class for your next luxe-for-less holiday, and it’s your first time flying at the “pointy end” of the plane, you will no doubt want to make the most of the experience. So what are our key tips for flying in style? Firstly, don’t leave it too late to check in for your flight. Besides enjoying priority screening, priority boarding, and priority screening with many major airlines when flying in business, such as with Emirates, you’ll also most likely have access to an airline lounge where you can get some work done, enjoy a meal, or just relax before your journey begins. There’s also no need to bring any food with you on most business class flights, as all meals, snacks on demand and designer treats from celebrity chefs are just a few of the culinary options awaiting you, like when you fly with Qantas. Once onboard you’ll also most likely receive an amenity kit, such as those provided by Etihad, which can be anything from a unisex pouch filled with basics such as socks and a toothbrush and toothpaste, to a his or hers dedicated bag complete with luxury toiletries to help you feel and look your best during the flight, and on arrival. Dressing comfortably is not just a necessity “down the back” of the plane either. If you have the benefit of a lie-flat bed on your aircraft, you have the opportunity of getting some serious shuteye on a business class flight. You may be provided with pyjamas by the airline to wear for comfort, such as flying with Virgin Australia, along with a pillow, and a blanket or duvet, but if you prefer you can take some loose clothing of your own to change into such as a t-shirt and track pants. Flying business class is also a great opportunity to catch up on some work, or for some, enjoy some downtime. If you use a laptop or other device on the flight you will most likely have USB connections and charging sockets in your seat, but if you want to have a rest from work, there will be personal in-flight on hand from new-release films to music and television to keep you well entertained like the system provided by Cathay Pacific. And on arrival, after you’ve enjoyed good food and a rest, you’ll disembark ahead of everyone else, and your bags should arrive first, getting you away from the airport and to your destination without delay.
